Know every aspect of the procedure ahead of time.
Kinomatic’s approach to orthopedic medicine is unlike anything else available in the industry today. Kinomatic VR is the only Virtual Reality platform designed specifically for orthopedic surgeons. Our proprietary software is helping surgeons plan procedures with a higher degree of confidence and accuracy. How does this work? From high resolution CT scans, we are able to build digital, 3D representations of your skeletal anatomy. Here is where the real work begins. Through in-depth analysis of your entire lower limb structure, our biomedical engineers are able to determine where the critical points are.
CT SCAN
The high resolution CT scan is the first step in the Custom Surgical Plan process. This is critical to transforming these 2D ‘slices’ into a 3D model.

3D Conversion
We convert your CT scan into a complex array of triangles to accurately represent your anatomy in 3D. Every single line and node represents a real boney landmark allowing us to precisely measure and better analyze the affected joints in a 360 degree view.

Measurements & Analysis
Every single joint is unique. Instead of taking a one-size-fits-all approach, we are meticulous in making sure that every decision made in your procedure is made to fit you.

Implant Sizing
With over 28,000 possible implant combinations, our biomedical engineers are able to find the perfect match to give you the most natural feeling new joint imaginable.

Anatomical Alignment
Being able to put your body back into its natural alignment is a huge contributing factor to a successful joint replacement procedure. Not only does a properly aligned joint replacement feel more natural, it can also reduce the risk of needing a revision.

Virtual Reality Simulation
The culmination of our Custom Surgical Plan is sending the model to your surgeon’s virtual reality headset. VR allows the surgeon to experience their procedures in a vivid, new way. The surgeon will examine the custom plan exactly how it will be done in the operating room, gaining ultimate familiarity with the procedure.

Why VR?
In traditional surgery, the practitioner can see only a fraction of the problem at one time. It’s like having a partial view of the tip of an iceberg, with no view at all of what’s underneath the surface. Kinomatic VR solves this problem entirely by giving your surgeon the means to view the joint from every angle, up close and in full.
How VR Works
The process begins with imaging. A custom CT scan gives an incredibly detailed, digital representation of the affected area. This digital recreation accounts for every physical detail nuance, from ligaments to every groove and ridge of bone. This visual data is rendered into a 3D file that is viewed through a portable headset, which allows for an immersive and reactive viewing experience. Using a wireless handset, the user can manipulate and rotate the image of the joint to study it from every angle.

How VR Helps Your Surgeon
Kinomatic VR helps surgeons plan better, faster, and less invasive procedures by eliminating much of the guesswork. Through virtual reality based on images of your actual hip, knee, shoulder, or spine, your surgeon can have a perfect view of the issue from any angle they need. There is no more guesswork. Before a single incision is made, your surgeon knows exactly where the problem lies and–perhaps just as important–where it doesn’t. This means no unnecessary removal of material, faster operating times, and more satisfied patients.
