The high resolution CT scan is the first step in the Custom Surgical Plan process. This is critical to transforming these 2D ‘slices’ into a 3D model.

3D Conversion

We convert your CT scan into a complex array of triangles to accurately represent your anatomy in 3D. Every single line and node represents a real boney landmark allowing us to precisely measure and better analyze the affected joints in a 360 degree view.

Measurements & Analysis

Every single joint is unique. Instead of taking a one-size-fits-all approach, we are meticulous in making sure that every decision made in your procedure is made to fit you.

Implant Sizing

With over 28,000 possible implant combinations, our biomedical engineers are able to find the perfect match to give you the most natural feeling new joint imaginable.

Anatomical Alignment

Being able to put your body back into its natural alignment is a huge contributing factor to a successful joint replacement procedure. Not only does a properly aligned joint replacement feel more natural, it can also reduce the risk of needing a revision.

Virtual Reality Simulation

The culmination of our Custom Surgical Plan is sending the model to your surgeon’s virtual reality headset. VR allows the surgeon to experience their procedures in a vivid, new way. The surgeon will examine the custom plan exactly how it will be done in the operating room, gaining ultimate familiarity with the procedure.

In traditional surgery, the practitioner can see only a fraction of the problem at one time. It’s like having a partial view of the tip of an iceberg, with no view at all of what’s underneath the surface. Kinomatic VR solves this problem entirely by giving your surgeon the means to view the joint from every angle, up close and in full.

How VR Works

The process begins with imaging. A custom CT scan gives an incredibly detailed, digital representation of the affected area. This digital recreation accounts for every physical detail nuance, from ligaments to every groove and ridge of bone. This visual data is rendered into a 3D file that is viewed through a portable headset, which allows for an immersive and reactive viewing experience. Using a wireless handset, the user can manipulate and rotate the image of the joint to study it from every angle.
